INTRODUCTION
This file describes the rules under which Gateway to Reality operates. Please note that these rules should not be interpreted like a legal contract; rather, the "spirit" of them should be considered. In other words, just because something isn't listed here doesn't mean it's all right to do it, if doing it causes unfair inconvenience or harm. Likewise, an action which is technically a violation of these rules may be ignored, if it advances the plot of the board and causes no harm to anyone, or in other unusual situations (playful abuse of others' characters, for instance, is practically encouraged at the Croquet Grounds in the City of Edgekeep). The aides and referees have the right to assess penalties for anything that they feel is an abuse of the board or its users, subject only to review by Referee. So, if you're not sure whether something is acceptable, ask a referee or an aide *before* you do it!
Penalties for rule violations are entirely at the aides and referees discretion (subject to Referee review), and may include such things as warnings, deletion of messages, demands of a public apology (with further penalties if such an apology is not made), credit and experience point fines, loss of equipment or magic items, dire consequences to/death of the offending character, and expulsion of the offending user from the board.
Again, this should not be considered as the complete rulebook of Edgekeep, just a list of sample cases. Those with any questions about whether an action is legal should contact an aide or referee.
