SPACETIME VIOLATIONS
It is illegal for a character to be in (post messages in) more than one place at any given time. However, in recognition of the fact that many actions take longer in real time than they do in game time (haggling over an item might take days of postings, but occupy only a few minutes for the characters), it is allowed for a character to be conversing, haggling, and performing other relatively trivial actions in several areas at once. Enforcement of this rule is somewhat subjective. Figure that, in one day, you can begin as many actions as your character could logically perform that day--this might include dropping by a few establishments, going fishing, seeking audience with the governor, trying to pick a pocket, and finally going to a pub for an evening ale. If you began, say, haggling over a price on a previous day, you can continue that too. If the aides feel that your postings have become excessive, you will be warned and the excess postings deleted (and further penalties may be added for extreme or repeated violations).
(Personal note from Aide1: A lot on this also depends on the content of your postings. A person whose postings fit smoothly into what's already going on in the areas they're posted in is likely to be allowed far more messages that someone who tends to ignore what's happening and go off on wild tangents.)
There are times, however, when it is illegal for your charcter to post in more than one place at a time. These times include:
a) When your character is involved in any sort of battle or other significant action in the city. b) When you are imprisoned for any reason in the dungeons. c) If you are on a quest.
This includes messages that are trivial, and e-mail that is any more than something like, "I can't talk now because I'm in a fight."
Note that messages posted on the Root hall, and in specified non-gaming areas (such as the Croquet Grounds in the City of Edgekeep), do not count under these rules unless you are obviously abusing these exceptions.
