Each character is expected to start with whatever is necessary for that character to function normally. However, when you bring a new character into the world of Tyrinth, you will not be powerful, so you can not create very potent objects of magic, such as pet wands of demonic possession or something. One or two, or even three magic items are usually OK as long as they stay within your character concept and are necessary for that concept to work. We don't expect a fighter to have a wand of fireballs, but it would be OK for a fighter to have some magical armor and possibly a weapon with magical enhancements.

The amount you have to spend on equipment depends on your character's Attractiveness; you get 50gp for each point of Attractiveness (so a middle-of-the-road Attractiveness of 50 gets you 2500gp). All items not on the price list (PRISLIST.HLP) are subject to approval (or rejection) by the Referee. If you can't find a price for an item you want, make up a reasonable price; remember, the more the item costs, the better it works.
