Basic Intellect is the functioning of your character's brain. Simply put, is your character stupid or smart? The intellect is divided into ten different catagories in which you distribute the strengths and weaknesses depending on your character. List the points you feel are most important, such as Religious Faith for a cleric, etc.

To cast spells, or otherwise work with magic (for example, creating potions or magic items), you must have an INT of 75 or greater.
